Glad he is doing good. Hope he can hold off on the wheel chair. Yes all motor bikes and cars if they want. We just want to raise as much as possible to end duchenne. They can just come for the tri-tip BBQ lunch for $10.00 a person too. Hope to see you and Nathan there.
Hi Wendy- yes we are doing a poker run again this year. We plan to do it every year. I will talk to my husband a see if we can make it 8-29. Hope everything is going well and Nathan is doing good. Aiden has been swimming all summer and doing very well. Talk to you soon. Tell your friends who ride motor bikes to come too.
I really enjoyed meeting you all as well. You have a beautiful family! Nathan couldn't stop talking about how great it was to meet Aiden! My husband was bumbed that he wasn't there. Maybe we could meet half way for luch/picnic/play date in a park, whatever! Let me know when you have some time on a weekend.
It was great meeting you and your family today. I didn't leave you a message. I wrote one on a different Wendy who does live in San Diego, and her son was diagnosed 2 months ago. Some how I thought you were the same Wendy when I saw the poker run stuff. Anyway I had a great time and would love to stay in touch.
I hope all is well. It has been hectic and I am going to try to make the fund raiser this weekend but don't know if I can. Nick has been sick and I am tired from work. I may need to go into work for pay close. Lots going on. I posted a msg under Advocacy and responded to another fund raising question. Some thoughts on other ideas....thought you might be interested.
Hi Wendy, thanks for the invite. I don't think we can make it but please invite me next time! BTW I never went to work the phones on the Telethon, it kind of freaked me out in the end . . .
Hope all's well,
Hi Wendy. I get really excited when I am able to find someone in the Sacramento area that we can relate with. We just found out that my son, Neel, has DMD about 4 weeks ago. He is two years old and needless to say our lives have changed completely. I saw that you are doing a fundraiser next weekend and we will definately try and stop by.
Hey there! Let me know when it would be a good time to get the boys together. Love to meet at a park or something. Nathan starts school (2nd grader this year) on Monday! How about Jake, is he back to school yet?
Yes, I have a close friend that ownes a day spa here in Sac. and younger sister opened a yoga studio next to it. It was her that suggested that Annie work with Nathan. I thought it was a fantastic idea. She holds classes for kids and is really good with children in general. She works with Nathan in a private 1 hour session every Saturday. She only charges me $25.00 for the session, but that is a discount because of our relationship. She is learning about DMD so that she is sure to do what is best for him. It's just great! I hope you can find someone in your area!
Definately let me know when you visit Alameda, we would love to meet you guys! Take care!
Hi Wendy, your boys are just beautiful! How wonderful that Nathan is seeing a yoga instructor. How did you find someone to work with him privately? Is it very costly? Before having children, I took several yoga classes and have often wondered if Avery might benefit from it, but it's hard to find children's yoga classes even in Los Angeles. I'd love to hear more. I posted a thread the other day asking other parents about extracurricular activities that their boys are involved in and was hoping that I would hear from someone whose son has taken yoga.
We do have family in Northern Cali (Alameda) and are planning on taking a road trip once my little one can handle sitting in a car seat for more than 10 minutes without protesting. ;) I would love to meet up with you and will let you know when we start planning that trip. (Probably some time in the spring)
I would say, if it's not good, don't do it. Essentially, we'd be some of those folks answering the phones and maybe we'd get interviewed (eek) . . . Kim and I were talking about lunch before with other moms maybe. I asked Danielle too. Oh and it's in Oakland. PS everyone I mentioned it to has mixed feelings about MDA but wants to so we can spread the DMD word.
