On June 1, I joined the WNW, the launch of Inspired Wining and it was amazing!  But that’s what happens with women, steel magnolias all of them, who hold each other together through good times and bad.   Six friends, who make a plan to come together on a regular basis to share, to support, to uplift, to mobilize, to change the world.

Take a minute to like them on Facebook!

Allison Greiner and friends started Wednesday Night Wining some time back.  It started out as a lovely night out with friends, sharing their journey.  Three years ago, Allison’s son Matthew was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy and things changed, evolved, these friends becoming closer and now champions for Matthew.  These Wednesday Night Women jumped into action, raising money for research in novel and familiar ways.   Each Wednesday night became a brainstorming session with those six creative minds, exploring every possibility and raising over $100,000 for research.   Over the last year, these wonderful women plotted and planned and on June 1, 2011, launched Inspired Wining.  The launch was amazing, the group expanding seemingly by the second.  The power of those women in Greensboro, NC was palpable and they intend to spread their message across the country and the world.  Inspired Wining…pass it on.

The concept is this:  Initial membership for joining the group is $85.00.  Continuing membership is $50.00/year.  Each member receives a lovely welcome package with wine and goodies.  All membership fees will be utilized for PPMD’s research to help end Duchenne for Matthew and so many others.

But it does not stop there.  Inspired Wining is about women and community.   If a group has a cause, they are welcome to raise money for that cause.  They will post their news and events on the Inspired Wining site to encourage others to help.  If a group does not have a cause, they will join the WNW to End Duchenne.

For these beautiful, talented, powerful women, delicate as magnolias and tough as steel, their recipe is simple and amazing:

6 (or more) Women

Creativity, dedication, strength, and resolve  (in large amounts)

(depends on the day) A pinch of whining.

If you have missed the film Steel Magnolias, I recommend it.   It is one of those movies that you will paint on the inside of your heart.   And you will learn all you need to know about these WNW and what  it takes to join.  Join us!  You will find Joy.
