“We will fight for our sons, we will unite for our sons, and yes, we will run for our sons.”
With those words, Mike Gaglianone, our parent speaker at our team pasta dinner, kicked off an incredible weekend at the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend January 9th-12th. Mike was among six runners who were honored for participating on the Run For Our Sons all 10 years that we’ve been running at Disney World. All together, 171 runners competed in the 5K, 10K, half marathon and full marathon races and raised more than $315,000!
Some extra-ambitious runners did the Goofy Challenge (half marathon and full marathon on back-to-back days) and the brand new Dopey Challenge (all 4 races – 48.6 miles!) Parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and neighbors donned special anniversary edition capes and became superheroes for our community, logging thousands of miles to bring us one step closer to ending Duchenne.
Thank you to each and every runner who participated, and those who supported them!
Participating in Run For Our Sons, PPMD’s 10-year-old endurance program, is a great way to raise awareness and get in shape! Plus, it comes with a whole bunch of perks – pasta parties, t-shirts, training tips, easy-to-use fundraising pages, etc. And you are surrounded by a team of like-minded runners that will cheer you on! Or you can start your own 5K, 10K, or family fun run in your community. We have the tools to get you started and the team to help support your endeavor.
