One Simple Action: Running for those who can’t

A family of 11…9 kids (the youngest with Duchenne), 2 parents and ALL of them participated in last weekend’s Walt Disney World Marathon. Bob McDonald, a PPMD Board Member, and each member of his family ran in at least one of the Disney races.  Even his youngest son Mark, with Duchenne, participated via wheelchair. Everyone in the family took a little time and effort (okay, maybe a lot!) and did something to help end Duchenne.

Sometimes the simplest action can have the largest impact. Donations are important and we are always grateful for every penny donated to PPMD. But oftentimes, especially in a rocky economy, making a donation to an organization is difficult for a family. Still, there are plenty of ways you can make an impact in the fight to end Duchenne, without spending a dime.

This month, we want to celebrate those in our community who show their support by running for those who can’t. Participating in a Run For Our Sons, PPMD’s 10-year-old endurance program, is a great way to raise awareness and get in shape! Plus, it comes with a whole bunch of perks – pasta parties, t-shirts, training tips, easy-to-use fundraising pages, etc. And you are surrounded by a team of like-minded runners that will cheer you on!

Or you can start your own 5K, 10K, or family fun run in your community! We have the tools to get you started and the team to help support your endeavor.
