Ok so I had dream about how to speak with one voice..... we don't.... thats right no 'One' person can.

The Duchenne community is too diverse with many boys/girls at different paths and points along our journey.

So I thought lets USE all the different boys/girls to make our One Voice actually work. I got some inspiration from how cancer charities approach fundraising.

So what I thought is to have young boys then the teens then the adults and a girl on an advert saying a diologue (it can be ironed out later).

How I'd do it is thus; The young boys would say 'I have Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy a muscle wasting disease'

The teens, 'It has meant that I need this wheelchair, it has meant I have to miss out on lots of things my friends can do'

Adults 'It is a 100% fatal disease! There are advances and interventions such as steriods, ventilators and cardiac medications and for many of us we live longer than average(cut to some 40-50 y.o's),

A girl says 'even some girls get this awful disease'

Everyone says; but it's still hard, we get depressed we struggle we take on life as a challenge, some of Us don't make it, but You can help us! Together we're shouting with One voice- End Duchenne.

A parent of a boy/girl thats died says 'Please help these people fight this disease or they'll end up losing their battle like all of these; a list of names of those killed by DMD and their ages rolls up the screen, as the commercial ends with, END DUCHENNE.

In this way we'd all get to be seen, all the differences are shown but knitted together as One Voice.

What do you think?

Little update, they love this idea in the UK too so I'll be helping my charity here try to get some sort of ad, via a film project made. This could be taken globally if it can be done here. This idea is for everyone afterall.

Kimberly has been on holiday, returns Monday. Aug 22-25 we have staff/board meetings about programs/strategy. Thanks so much for this thinking about the ONE VOICE concept. I will pass this along to the group.

I don't live in America though, I'm across the pond lol Our PPMD here (Action Duchenne) aren't really in a position to fund an ad campaign. Even though it would be fab on youtube, hitting the major TV is what we need. I came up with this because the US PPMD mentions 'One' Voice. I would love to know what Pat Furlong says. By the way love using the different languages, each country could come up with their own slogan and maybe use my original backbone idea.

Awesome idea Ian. Maybe we can use our many voices to get this done and out there.

Ian, it`s great to get organized and your idea is fantastic , we should use Facebook too, make it worldwide meaning and showing differente people (like us in Peru) saying End duchenne in different languages too.
I think you should lead the team somehow with PPMD.

Well we could do a youtube thing first, everyone could film on web cams, someone joins it all together and edits it (editing isn't my thing but theres a huge community of talents here too!).
