Critical Care Resources for Your Family

PPMD continues to bring you the most up-to-date care resources, so that you and your family and everyone who helps care for your son, has the information they need at their fingertips. Here are some recent updates we wanted you to be aware of:

  • The Psychology of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy
Jos Hendriksen, Ph.D. and a team of behavior experts have published this booklet as a guide to helping parents navigate a Duchenne diagnosis and what that means for their child.
    Download the booklet.

  • Stretches for Duchenne
Renowned Physical Therapist, Helen Posselt, has updated this important companion video to the work you are doing with your primary physical therapist.
    Watch the video.

  • Going to School with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy
School presents a number of challenges to the patients in this community. One mom, Lisa Littleton, wrote a book about Duchenne that school children could understand, to help start a discussion and ease Duchenne patients into a new class.
    Download your own copy.

  • Emergency Care Information
Many of you are probably aware of PPMD’s Emergency Care Card. This is a simple business card sized guide to help you navigate ER care in case your son has an accident. We have recently updated this card to include questions and information you should give the ER staff, including mentioning Fat Embolism Syndrome, should your son show potential symptoms. Contact PPMD to get your copy of this card or download PPMD’s app to your mobile device. (If you already downloaded the app, this information has been automatically updated for you.)
