My Research Project - End Duchenne Grant Program

When Kimberly approached me about sponsoring a Parent Project this year research was the obvious choice for me. I relish reading research papers like my wife Kristin does a Jane Austen novel. My training for Run For Our Sons

Well, another week of training has come and gone. The big moment for this week was a scheduled 12-mile run on Saturday. I wound up turning this into a 13-mile run. I ran from Palisades Park (where we were staying) to South Haven, Michigan (where I met Kristin and the boys for lunch) along the Blue Star Highway. Southwest Michigan is really a beautiful place. My training for Run For Our Sons Disney World 2009

So, I am training to run the ful marathon this year at Disney World. I ran the half-marathon last year. I finished in 2:05:16. I hope to improve my time this year, as well as moving up to run the full marathon. I thought I would post my weekly training log in the hope that some of the faster and more experienced runners would take pity and offer up their collective wisdom.

Hello John,

I have two thoughts on this. I had a similar problem last year due to a crushed toe nail. I used a flexible bandaid and kept going. It was sore early in the run, but this didn't last more than a few runs and once the inflammation released it was back to normal. So, you could try going out with your group and see how it goes.

The other thing you might do is get a slightly larger pair of shoes to avoid the toe from banging against the end of the shoe. If it really is sore, bagging a run this early in your training won't be a problem. Being safe is far better than suffering. Even if you have to rearrange your schedule a bit you are initially getting your self used to being on your feet for longer periods of time. How this fits your life is more important than forcing things to work.
