Unpredictable

Posted on November 4, 2008 at 11:00pm 0 Comments

All marathoners will tell you the best and worst part about “the marathon” is it’s unpredictability. You can prepare, train, and practice, but no runner can be absolutely ready for what actually happens race day…and thus its great parallel with life.

For some there is victory, and others agony, there are always choices and consequences, risks and rewards, and even though there can only be one “winner”, all who finish receive a metal signifying ones dedication to completing the race… Continue

From Heather....New York Marathon Finsher

My Dear Friends and Family!

I sit here today a little sore, a bit tired, but extremely blessed. Thanks to all of you and your support I have had the opportunity of a lifetime. The New York Marathon was an extraordinary journey. It started with a red eye flight out of Seattle Friday night, landing in New York Saturday morning. Saturday was filled with an expensive taxi trip to our hotel, a long walk to pick up our Race Day… Continue

Another opportunity to wear my "Run for Our Sons" jersey

Last weekend, I competed in a local sprint triathlon. This is my regular summer race date with my older brother, Norm. Heather was not going to be with me this race, which is very unusual, and I was feeling just a little off before the race.

So as I stood in in the cool morning, I was nervous, but knew I was ready...I had just completed the swim and run portion of a 1/2 iron man a couple weeks before. And then we were off.... my… Continue

What a honor....

Heather and I are basically your average mom's, who decide to enter all different kinds of athletic events, as motivation to keep us working out. :) There is nothing like signing your name on the dotted line to keep you honest in the gym! So two years ago, we learned to swim (now neither one of us would have drowned if you threw us in the water, but we were a long way away from lap swimming) to compete in our first sprint triathlon.... to two… Continue

The Happy Ending

Posted on July 5, 2008 at 1:00pm 0 Comments

.....as it ends up, two people bid $200 dollars on Stephanie's scrapbook auction for Micah. So Stephanie decides to make two books, and then another of Stephanie's fan/readers donated $100 of her own money to the pot for a grand total of $500. Again this is someone who does not know ANY of us. What a AWESOME reminder that God is taking care of Micah!

Jenny, I just wanted to thank you again for all the work you did at the Rock and Roll Marathon. It was a great event and we raised money too. Tom has already recruited about 10 people to join "team wyatt" next year. We can't wait. Talk to you soon.

Hi Jenny,
Well the ING New York City marathon is almost here! If you were going to send photo's now is the time... Mike leaves tomorrow for the big apple. Conrad is in the middle of his mid-terms in his senior year of college so he and I will be staying in Seattle. Would love to have a picture of the Tacoma/Gig Harbor boys to put on Mike's jersey :-)
Mike will look for you in NY.
