I'm a single full-time mother of two teenagers. My son Steven, 19 with duchenne's and my daughter Samantha, 16 with BiPolar and PTSD. Since I have become a single mom, I have grown tremendously. I dedicate my life to my children and am thankful for them. I am on a mission to make their lives be the best I possibly can...not with material items, but with constant love, understanding and FUN!!!
About my family:
Steven was diagnosed with duchenne's at the age of 4. That was in the year 1994. Since then we became very involved with MDA as Steven was the Orange County Goodwill ambassador for 2 years. While Steven was in Kindergarten, his pediatrician called me at home and told me of another boy he just diagnosed with DMD, and would I be willing to talk to the mother. Loe and behold, our boys were in the same classroom together! I will never forget the connection I instantly felt with Mary Sahagun and her precious son Kenny. Needless to say, we still have a beautiful and close relationship with the Sahagun's. I'm sure many of you know Mary, her son Kenny passed at the young age of 16. She has certainly been a huge blessing in my life, as Kenny was in ours.
