I am sorry to hear the news about your grandson. I think you will find this site to be a good one. Your daughter is very lucky to have you so involved and caring. My own mother passed away in 2002 and was my rock for anything. My son was a late diagnosis in 2001 and he was almost 10 years old. My mother was always there to support each one of my children and with Nick (dmd) she never waivered. I feel very blessed with the parents I had and for my brothers and sister.
My husband in the very beginning was silent and I could see in his eyes his heartbreak. We are and will always be heartbroken but we are doing whatever we can to help bring about change. I am grateful for those family members who actually do understand and care enough to help. So, when I see grandparents and relatives who step up and get involved it warms my heart.
I will be praying for your Ryan as well. People have different ways of dealing with heartbreak. My husband seems to be the same way your daughter is about our Ryan's diagnosis. He just isn't ready to talk about it, or learn about it. The future scares us to death. I have trying to get him to check out PPMD. I guess he will in his own time. I find it to be a comfort that somebody on this site has been there. Many people have older children and have been there. Talking to them brings me some comfort and Ryan's DMD. I will keep Ryan (both mine and yours) in my prayers. =)
