I am pregnant with my 5th, we found out that our son had DMD a month after we learned of the pregancy. We are saving the cord blood and tissue. It is expensive, we are using CBR and set up a gift registry and beccause this is our 5th child, 4th son, we have everything we need, so we have asked that any of our friends or family that wanted to do something contribute to our registry. Our family and friends have been very supportive and have helped quite a bit already. We are due in January.

The gift registary program is really a great way for people to help. You're right it is pretty expensive, but like you, we feel it is very worth it. Congratuations on your 5th child. Same as you our first is a girl and our next 4 (well 5, I'm pregnant too) are boys. Best of luck to you. Take care.

Hi-- we also banked my new son's cord blood through CBR. We paid the registration fee over 6 mths and then $125 per year. I do think that these cells could be extremely valuable someday in finding a cure for my older son. I especially thought they might be valuable since both children are male. Just a thought. Good Luck! We were so thrilled about the new baby and a reason to feel real joy again!

Hi Melissa,

I'm from Vietnam, heard that you tried PGD. Could you pls advice us the name of clinic and contact info? I want to have a healthy baby. Pls help me. Thank you very much.

Hi from Washington State. For us, we needed to pay $17,115 up front. $4500 of that was for the PGD part and the rest was to the fertility clinic. All insurance companies are different so prepayment at my clinic was required. About $12,715 was paid to the clinic and I paid the $4500 to the PGD lab directly. What my clinic did was put the $12000 + into a "clinic bank account" and as bills needed to be paid, the clinic would submit it to my insurance and whatever my insurance didn't cover they took out of my "bank". After all bills were paid I received $4300 back from my "clinic bank" and I received about $1200 from my insurance after I filed a claim for the PGD payments. It hasn't been easy (the money part). We had our procedure done in June of 2010 and I'm still trying to get the insurance to reimburse us for more. Also the fertility drugs were about $5000 additional and my insurance had a $2000 maximum. Thankfully it worked for us and I'm about 24 weeks pregnant. Hi Nguyen, How are you?  I live in Washington State and I used a clinic near Seattle called Northwest Center for Reproductive Sciences.  The clinic is located in Kirkland Washington.  The 2 main doctors there are Dr. Opsahl & Dr. Kennedy.  They are both great.  Their local telephone number is 206-284-4400.  I don't know how you would call it from Vietnam.  The clinic that does the PGD part of the procedure is located in Lexington New Jersey their telephone number is 973-436-5012.  We are now about 5 1/2 weeks away from having our baby.  Best of luck to you.  Please keep me posted on how everything goes.  Take care.

I save my daughters also, she is 6 now but also is $99 a year, at cbr
