We attempted to start Max on Deflazort yesterday, but as they say on the internet, it was an "epic fail". :( We tried crushing it and hiding it in yogurt (nope), then I tried hiding the pill in chocolate pudding, and he spit it everywhere. I then tried crushing it and mixing it with chocolate milk, and while he drank some of it, he didn't get it all down. I also tasted the milk, and the bitterness was still quite stong. Actually I can't believe he drank as much as he did.

Any suggestions? I thought about crushing it, mixing it with juice and putting it in a syringe, but I know in order to get him to take that, I'll probably have to wrestle him down and squirt it in against his will. Not exactly the way to start off my day with my little guy.

Please let me know what worked for you!!!!

I'm afraid I don't know much about either -- the only meds Max is on is Deflazacort and Vitamin D drops. Sorry I couldn't help ...

I just posted some links on the IDEBENONE discussion if you're interested.
It sounds like you have it figured out now, but we have always crushed up our son's pills in applesauce. He started when he was 4 1/2, and he is still doing the same now at age 6. Good luck. I feel it is well worth it with the benefits.
The new squeeze tubes of applesauce fromTrader Joe's work great. I would put the pills in the tube, give a quick squeeze toward the back of his mouth and voila!

Yet another reason I wish we had a Trader Joe's in our town!

Our 3 1/2 year old has now been on Deflazacort 4 months. He takes half pill ever morning. I crush it and put it in 3/4 teaspoon apple juice in medicine syringe. He opens I squirt it in and down it goes! Followed immediately by a sur sur(Pediasure strawberry).we believe ir is helping him. He can definitely play better at plato/playground. He does seem more aggressive but could be the age?
