Hi all!! First I want to say that it is such a blessing to have a site such as this one to exchange info and reach out to others that really GET IT!!! Now my second part, we took Lucas to Dr. Wong for the first time in July...LOVE her and all the people at the hospital...it was such a postive experience!!!
Anyway, while Lucas is still able to walk, she would like him to have some sort of motorized transportation to use part time to not tire him out so much...I started looking at things on the internet and am completely lost and overwhelmed!!!!! Any ideas or info you guys have to pass on from your experiences would be greatly appreciated!!! THANKS!! Karen

Kevin had a Go Go Ultra for about three years. that just died, but we got him a new GoGo Elite Traveller this summer and it is just a tiny bit bigger (longer), longer battery life and 2 1/2 inches off the ground (just a little higher going over things). We also got him a Pride Revo Scooter which is more heavy duty and 3 inches off the ground which is great for grass, the baseball field, etc. and we use it for those purposes. We call it his ATS (All Terrian Scooter). We put sports decals on it and it is wonderful. The Revo has a front light and large rear light. We also got a discontinued Lynxx by Invacare (great low price) and will use in our one level ranch that we are going to renovate for accessibility very soon. His school purchased a Go Go for him in the 3rd grade and he is going into 5th. All scooters come apart. We bought a ramp van two years ago so I'm lucky that I don't have to take it apart whenever we go out with the scooter. Kevin was walking around until a fall while going to sit on a stool at school (following an ankle break in Sept. ) and missed the stool. His back has been bothering him ever since and now his hamstrings are tight. We hope he'll get back to some walking but the scooter is a life saver. We also use a manual "transport chair" for him for fast trips and dropping him off at school, where he then gets on his "school" scooter. The scooter at school saves on our personal one. The school got it since I can drive him o school and the cost of the scooter was more cost effective than using the schoolbus with a lift and the driver.
