Hi,

Does anyone have any experience with heel cord release surgery? Saij is 8 and stopped walking this past summer. There seems to be mixed opinions about the long term and sustainable benefits of this procedure. Any thoughts???? Thank you. Vicky

No experience with surgery, but my son did go through several rounds of serial casting to stretch his heel cords. It was very successful and much less invasive. They cast the legs giving the heel cords a stretch and 5 to 7 days later they take the casts off, recast giving a little more of a stretch. It might be worth a try before you consider surgery.

Hi Susan,

Thank you for that great advice....we actually did try the serial casting over the summer but unfortunately did not get the results we hoped for. I'm glad it worked out for your son. Thanks again for responding....happy holidays.
