My son Jared who is 13 is a tongue thruster and has a bite that only makes contact in his back teeth. We have been to several orthodonists and decided it is time for braces. One of the orthodonits wants to put a rake in  which is essential small spikes on the top inside front of his mouth attached to the braces which, after 6 months or so, will stop his tongue thrusting.

I have 2 questions: Has anyone out there done braces for a child with Duchenne and does anyone have experience with this rake device for tongue thrusting?

Thx-Kris
