The Zappy was recommended to us. Looks cool and may be a good choice for a first grader who doesn't want the Convaid stroller anymore.  Please let me know what your experience is with this scooter if you used it or with others?

Thanks much!  "Hop" you had a great Easter!

Hi Lisa. Yes we had a great Easter ! I looked at the Zappy scooter too but wondering about the three wheels and am worried about John falling. He really needs a scooter too and hates the stroller. I wonder about it and hope to hear from others. Carolyn

This looks really nice: http://www.zapworld.com/electric-vehicles/electric-scooters/zappy-3-ez

"This compact, sturdy electric scooter is versatile and highly maneuverable. This efficient and economical electric scooter has a horn, headlight, contoured seat and large cargo basket to place your goods. The ZAPPY3 EZ Electric Scooter also features a powerful, silent wheel motor and maximum stability."

Seems to offer more stability than a bike, but they say age 12 and up.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience, too.  This looks great for my 9 yr old, but does it come apart easy to get into the car?  I couldn't tell.  I think my son might like it though.  He doesn't want any help, but he would probably be secretly relieved to have something like this.

Regina....I do not have the zappy scooter so I'm not familar with how it works, but I did get a scooter for my son about a year ago and he ABSOLUTELY loves it. He's like your son...mister independent...and what the scooter does is allow him to be even more independent....If we go somewhere like target or the mall that requires lots of walking,he zips all over the place where he used to drag along behind me. I went to a mobility store in my area and they showed me how to use the scooter.

We went with pride's go-go scooter because it does break down easily to put in the car....Hope this helps!!!! Karen

This is the first time I've seen the zappy scooter.  Looks amazing and something my son would like.  We just bought him a zip 500 electric scooter.  The handle folds down but we seem to have trouble getting it into the car. I usually place in the back seat which means no passengers...He wants nothing to do with the go go pride. I tried to talk him into it.  He has good balance now at age 9 but the zappy may be next on our list. If you decide to purchase, let us know how it works out. We use his scooter at the zoo, parks etc and around the house.

We bought one. The brake is too hard for weak hands. It goes very fast. After many attempts, including one ugly crash, we bought ango go scooter. That is the way to go! Since the zap folk wouldnt let me return it, My older non DMD son loves the zappy. Not the best customer service given they knew why I bought it and that it's use was minimal.
