8 Easy Ways You Can Help Us Win $1 Million
We are a week away from winning up to $1 million and raising awareness about Duchenne muscular dystrophy in ways we can’t even fathom. But we need your help today!
VOTE NOW! And please do as many of the 8 steps below and encourage your friends and family to do the same. Anything you can do to spread the word gets us that much closer to victory!

1.
Vote! This is the most important way you can help us win. Your
vote really does matter. Just make sure that you first become a fan of Chase Community Giving on Facebook before you
vote. If you’re not a fan, it will instruct you to become one. And if you’re not on Facebook…JOIN!
2. After you
vote, you will be asked if you want to post on your wall that you voted. Answer YES! This lets all of your Facebook friends know that you voted, includes a link, and you don’t have to do anything.
3. Leave a comment on our
Chase Community Giving page and encourage everyone to support PPMD with their vote. This also will appear on your status page with a link if you allow it to after you write the comment. This may be something you want to hold off on doing until a couple of days after you vote. That way, you are spacing out your status messages that you voted.
4. Change your profile picture to one of our “
I Voted for PPMD” badges. These can be found in the photo section of our PPMD fan page. Changing your picture to one of these great badges again will update your friends on Facebook that you have changed out your picture and encourage them to vote and do the same. Wouldn’t it be great to see a whole bunch of
profile pictures with the same message!
5. Contact everyone you know via email, Facebook, Twitter, text, telephone, etc., and encourage them to vote for PPMD by visiting
www.parentprojectmd.org/Facebook.
6. Post
our video, created specifically for this contest, everywhere! Share it on Facebook, Twitter, send it through email, put it in your blog, or add it to your website. Nothing tells our story better than the
faces of the boys we are trying to help.
7. Attend our voting event! Visit the
PPMD fan page, click on the Events tab, and attend our event. Then you can invite everyone you know on Facebook to attend as well. This will remind them to vote and to vote before the 1/22/10 deadline.
8. Print out these steps and share them with your co-workers, your children’s teachers, students that you know, your favorite coffee shop…anyone that will take them!
What To Do With Your Additonal Votes
Each person gets 5 votes to vote for 5 different organizations in the top 100. You can only vote for PPMD once. But we would like to suggest where you cast your additional votes.
First, our friends at
Darius Goes West are also in the top 100. That’s right – two organizations fighting to end Duchenne are in the top 100! So we hope one of your votes will go to this other great Duchenne group.
For your additional votes, we would like for you to consider some other organizations we are working with in this Chase Community Giving Challenge. Together we have formed the Children’s Genetic Disease Research Coalition with
Trisomy 18 Foundation and
Ehlers-Danlos Network Cares. By forming this coalition, we are hoping that people dedicated to fighting one of these genetic diseases will use their votes to support another.
Though each disease is different, with unique challenges, families still face the devastation of diagnosis and struggle to find hope. If helping one another out gets all four of us in top spots (PPMD, Darius, Trisomy, Ehlers-Danlos) and raises awareness collectively, then it is a victory for all families, for all children fighting these rare diseases.
The charity with the most votes at Midnight on Jan 22nd when voting ends will win the top $1 million award, with 5 runner-up positions receiving $100,000 each. There is also a discretionary $1 million award to be given by the Chase Giving Celebrity Advisory Board. We want to see all four of our organizations in those top slots to fight these conditions and save children’s lives. Advances in the science and treatments of Trisomy 18 and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome will advance the opportunities for treatments for Duchenne and vice-versa. It is in the best interest of all our related communities. It’s just the right thing to do – on both a human and strategic level! Especially since there are a number of other powerful voting coalitions forming around other related causes. But we have the numbers and can win this for all of us. Our goal is nothing short of seeing all our organizations in the top voting slots on the Leader Board come Jan 22nd when voting ends at midnight!
