I am retired and live in Granbury, TX. I have been married for 43 years and we have three sons and one grandson. I love reading, listening to music, and dancing to the "oldies" (50's and 60's music) with my grandson Andrew. My husband and I are native Texans and are glad to be back in Texas. Fifteen of the last 21 years have been spent overseas with the Navy.
Since retiring, I've been trying to learn as much as I can about Duchenne. Rick and I are part of Andrew's Team for the Stride-n-Ride sponsored by MDA and have been involved in raising funds for it. We just had our first tournament and we learned a lot. Next year will be better!
About my family:
My husband is my very best friend and we have been married 43 years. He is retired from the US Navy which gave us a chance to see some of the world. We have so many wonderful memories together and cherish the time we spend together. The picture on the website is a trip we took to Lancaster County. Rick is the one on the left.
We have three sons, one who lives in Mansfield, TX, one in Lubbock, TX, and one who is forever 17 and lives in Heaven. Living in a house with four guys was quite an adventure for me since I was an only child, but I loved every minute of it....well, almost every minute. I learned quite a bit from them. I'm a better person today for it.
Andrew is our only grandchild and he is the light of our lives. We live about 45 minutes away from him and try to see him as much as we can. Andrew's favorite pasttime with me is dancing to the oldies. He knows the words to "Rock Around the Clock," "Charlie Brown," just to name a few. He keeps me active in my retirement. All he has to do is smile at us with those big blue eyes and big smile, and Rick and I both just melt.

Thank you for sharing some more of youself and family. I will think about how best to answer you with your daugther in law's depression on being a carrier. It is not her fault and is just our genetic code, beyond our control. I hope to be able to support you and her in this for sure as I work through my thoughts regarding this.
I got your message. Thank you so much. I am sorry to hear about your son Stephen-how heartbreaking that must have been for you. What a wonderful namesake to have your grandson named after him. My husband's name is Stephen also. Great name for sure.
Thank you so much. I just leanred about this website and it's awesome!
Stephen was our youngest son and he was killed in an auto accident at the age of 17, along with two other boys. We were stationed on Okinawa and that's where the accident occurred.
Duchenne MD is genetic for Andrew. Also, his full name is Andrew Stephen. Our son and daughter-in-law decided to name him after our son Stephen.
Welcome to PPMD Community Linda. I love your page and your to see how much you enjoy life and your family. Your forever 17 son, did he have MD-I was just wondering if it was genetic for Andrew?
