just a quick note, you had recommended canine assistants a while back, we just had our home visit, and hope it went well, the vister asked if we knew you, she said she did your visit too (lindsay, i think, her dog is carly) anyway, thanks for the recommendation!
Just thought I would let you know I haven't forgotten about you - I am pulling up all the old and new papers and there are a lot of conflicting opinions, so just ploughing through and summarising the physiology. (I certainly don't want to give you and any bad information). Is Justin on CoQ10 by any chance?
Hi Samantha. I was curious on Medicaid and private insurance. Does Medicaid kick in before or after private insurance? Also, does medicaid restrict which doctors you go to see? We currently take Justin to Cincy and don't want to change this at this time but want to make sure medicaid doesn't interfere. We live in South Texas.
I love your page. Your son is adorable. If you are ever in the Salt Lake area it would be fun to get together. His little feet look like my sons, with all the battle wounds. My son just had the heel cord and tendon transfer surgery because his "drop foot" was so bad. He is doing much better now. I'm new to PPMD so it's been really nice to see other families on here going through the same struggles.
Our Canine Assistants graduating class (3 DMD boys) started a yahoo group and we would love to have people join the group who have had more experience than us. If you are interested in joining, please check it out here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/canineassistantfriends/
Also, let the coordinator know that I suggested you join and about Jasmine!
Hi, Samantha. I'm another Texas mama (College Station) and just wanted to say hi. All of your kids are so cute!! I love the line in your bio and DMD being part of your lives, but not the biggest part. That's the attitude my hubby and I are hoping to have during this journey. :)
Hi Samantha, wow what gorgeous kids u have, I've just spent a week in Tassie(King Island) with my kids at my parents place and am so glad to be home, can't remember the last time I spent a week with my folks and I remember why (just gritted my teeth and said this is good for the kids) The kids had a ball. Ryan is still walking and we are contemplating steroids would love to hear your views for and against. When did Justin go into a wheelchair and did he have steroids, this is all so new to us,my husband and I are a bit overwhelmed.
Holy cow, i like to never found where I can type to you. Yes I want to be one of your online buddies. I will try and get some pics and stuff up on my page when I have time to figure all of it out.
I am a single mom with two sons, Kolten is 10 with DMD and Braxton is 14 without DMD. They are wonderful children and keep me hopping.
I am in college right now getting my masters in special education. It is a lot for an old gal who is 44 and been out of college for what seems like a century. My ex husband and I share 50% custody of the boys so things are often a whirl wind, but that is ok.
I have had DMD in my live for the last several years and stuggle as the rest of you do too. I have looked at this online sight quite a few time but was just too afraid to jump off as I was scared of people telling me the horror and I don't want to be with horror people. I want to be with the HOPE people and those who know that Jesus will not turn away from us or our sons when we need him so. I try not to get ahead of myself and take one day at a time. Kolten has taught me so many things and he is the light of my life but dog gone it = he is the most stubborn obstinate little boy in the universe. He came out of my screaming and he has not stopped since. He will be in 4th grade next year and I pray for his teachers :). And I think they pray for him cause he has me for a mother :) Kolt went to MDA camp for the 3rd year this year and loves it. He has had the same counselor for 3 years and they are quite the team. We recently got a go go scooter and he is using it a little at long walk places like the mall. He is very conscious of what other people think about everything -( I know you are going well of course he is) why would he be the one that doesn't give a hoot how he looks. I'm learning to take it apart and put it in the car, which is a real heavy treat and like putting a puzzle together to get it to lay right. I'm not above asking people to give me a hand in a parking lot though. I hope I did this right, I better stop and make sure it will go to you. Stay strong you DMD mommies!!!!!!! you all rock!!!! Lisa
