Thank you so much. I am happy I found this site. I am actually going to be running for our sons this September 6, the half marathon out at Walt Disney World in Florida. You can believe I will be running for your boys!! Your strength is amazing. I can not begin to understand how you do it. But I know it is because of the love you feel for your boys and daughter. I will keep your family in my prayers always. I would love to chat with you later. God bless.

He's only 7 so I think maybe we have a little while to go. He loves firetrucks and Ambulances so maybe I can figure out how to get those on their. Your awesome you seem like a really great mom for those boys. It takes a special person to deal with this. It's hard for me to look at pictures though when some of the boys are on vents and stuff. Sorry hope that doesn't affend you or anybody else. But I'm still in the beginning stages so maybe that's normal. Your boy's look so happy all the time. That's so special.
Thanks Amanda

Hi Tanya
I have just come across your page looking at others and wow, what can I say. You have a wonderful family and you are doing a great job, keep up the positive spirits and you will reap many benefits. Children are a blessing in every way especially ones that are ill, they have an internal instinct and although we go through some bad days with them, the good times are what keep us strong. Your husband who has left you does not know what he is missing out on. Each one to their own, it either draws you closer or separates you totally. Keep up the good work. Kindest Jo-Anne

Fortunately I have the most supportive husband. He and I married young and have faced this challenge in our lives head on. We had talked about the chance of having a child with DMD long before we had one. I think the fact that we are able to support each other through the hard times has been my saving grace. I am sorry to hear that you have a new challenge, but know that there are so many others you can share your experience with right here.

Hi Tanya, IVF with PGD is a way that they can scan the embryo. What they do is take the eggs and combine it with the sperm to make embryos. At day 3 they do a biopsy, where they take one cell from the embryo and then do a DNA test to make sure it does not have the deletion or whatever the mutation is. Then they implant one or two embryos. They give you a report card that tells you if the embryos have the mutation and you can also find out the sex of the embryos if you want. It was a difficult decision to make but we felt it was the best for our family. Now I just have to get through this step. Fertility docs are very cautious, they want their IVF numbers to be high so they will do everything to get and keep you pregnant. It is a good thing, but tough when you have other children. I know there are clinics in Louisian, chicago, and TX, we did it at home in LA because it involoves a lot of labs and us, but tell her to do her research when she decides it it time. i hope this helps.

Hi Tanya, it is so nice to hear from you! Trevor is doing well, still walking. He continues to amaze me. He is so determined! He is participating in the PTC124 2a extension study in PA. He has been on the drug now for 5 weeks. We have not seen any improvements yet, but other parents are reporting some improvements. We hope to see some improvements soon. Hope all is well with your family. Amy

Hi Tanya, thank you for adding me as a friend! I'm so sorry for your loss, my heart just aches for you. You are an amazing woman and mother. I see our boys as our angels, they don't get to stay with us as long as we'd like, but they give us many blessings and change our lives forever! I would have my son a million times over. ~Tracy~
