My son Matt was scheduled for surgery on Feb 27, 09, he spiked a fever a few days prior and ended up in the hospital with pneumonia for four days. A part of me feels frustrated he was not able to have the surgery as it should help with the chest colds I'm told. Another part of me is feeling releived he did not have to go through such a major surgery as I too have feared the worse at times. It's hard to know what is the right thing to do at times. Hi Monica,

My son just turned 18 and was also scheduled for surgery, but the anesthesiologist called it off. It was very frustrating, but in a way an answer to prayer. I was really worried about him tolerating the procedure since it take a couple of hours most likely. My son needs to have a kidney stone (1.9 cm - that's about 3/4 of an inch long) broken up and removed. What surgery was your son supposed to have?

You're not alone in worrying about doing the right thing for your son.
