People around the world will help participate in the second annual World Duchenne Awareness Day on September 7th. There are a variety of ways you can get involved with this international effort – how will you raise awareness in your community?
1) Be Social
Be sure to 'Like' the World Duchenne Awareness Day page on Facebook. And tell your friends and family to do the same. Let’s get to 10,000 likes by the 7th! We will be sending a virtual balloon for you to share on World Duchenne Awareness Day.
2) Buy a Balloon
Families from around the globe are selling balloons in honor of World Duchenne Awareness Day. Join the global effort and create your own balloon page in honor of the person in your life living with Duchenne.
Sharing our story is one of the most impactful ways we can raise awareness. Submit a photoblog! The World Duchenne Awareness Day site is adding stories every day. Contact Ryan Fischer at firstname.lastname@example.org today to find out how.
4) Organize a Fundraising Event
We make creating your own event easy and fun! We have all the tools necessary – we will create a website, logo, and provide all the resources you need to make a successful event. Contact Danielle Garrigan at Danielle@parentprojectmd.org today to find out how!
5 & 6) Promote Education & Encourage Clinicians and Scientists to Join the Movement
Send the WorldDuchenneAwarenessDay.org site to your professional contacts. We would love for them to join the campaign – offline and online!
7) Media Actions
Have a contact with local media? Looking to reach out to spread the word about Duchenne awareness? Use September 7th as a reason to reconnect with that journalist and update them on your story. Contact Will Nolan at email@example.com if you need help.
PPMD has been working with Congress on a bill called PFIA - the Patient Focused Impact Assessment. Learn how to take action and share with your friends and family. Advocating from home is as simple as a click!
