On September 28, 2013, families across the country will celebrate PPMD's Sixth Annual Coach To Cure MD. Coaches from nearly 600 universities and colleges around the country will wear a Coach To Cure MD patch to help raise awareness for Duchenne. Hundreds of high school coaches (and entire teams!) will also support this amazing event. TJ Clime and his family suited up and started supporting Coach To Cure MD weeks ago. This incredible third grader and his family have been on the field and TJ ran with the team to break through the sign to start a recent game! Through fundraising and telling their story to raise awareness, TJ and his family are some of the MVPs of this year's Coach To Cure MD. So meet our Featured Voice for September, TJ Clime!

Meet TJ Clime

Hey TJ! Thanks for talking to us about Coach To Cure MD! Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I am 9 years old, in the third grade. I live in Jefferson City, Missouri.

What are some of your favorite things to do outside of school?

Playing kickball, swimming, fishing, playing video games with my brother Connor.

Nice! What’s your favorite subject in school? What do you plan on studying?

Science. I want to be a scientist, discover things in space.

What does it mean to have Duchenne?

My muscles are sick.  I get tired real easy.  I can't run that fast and it makes me kind of sad.

I know Coach To Cure is something that gets you excited. Tell us a little about Coach To Cure MD. How would you describe it?

Coaches help teach people about Duchenne and raise money to find a cure.

What does it mean to you to have your favorite coaches wearing patches?

I thought it was cool to see the coaches wear the patches to help raise money for me.

It's incredibly cool! Tell us about the Jays game you got to go to recently. What did you get to do? How was the game?

I got to lead the team on the field.  I got to run first and break through their sign.  My favorite football Mizzou player was there, TJ Moe.  He's a nice guy.

(TJ's mom adds: TJ had met TJ Moe last year when he was playing for University of Missouri-Columbia (MU).  The MU football team, coaches, and staff were amazing!  TJ Moe came again to see TJ a couple weeks ago at our high school's home opener.  Amazing man.)

It's great when our heroes are nice guys!

Finally, if you could have dinner with any three people, real or pretend, living or deceased, who would you choose and why?

Sponge Bob because he's funny.

Tom Brady because he throws really far.

Jesus because he saves peoples lives.

That's a great dinner party! Have fun with Coach To Cure TJ and thank you!

Check out TJ and his family's interview at the Jay's game.
