Damien my son went to his first MDA camp and he had a blast. He made best friends and everything. He loved it so much that he seems much happier.

That's all my son talks about is camp he had so much fun. His counselor was awesome, she sent us a cd with pictures from camp and he just sit's and laughs about all the stuff he got to do. Debbie my son ask's about the kid's in wheelchairs and he say's I hope they don't have what I have it really worries him and he get's sad for those kid's. The wheelchair to him is such a big deal but once he told me he doesn't want those kid's to have what he has I totally understood. Our boy's are awesome it's like their's a purpose for them to be here.

I wanted to say how glad I am you had your son go to camp. My son is 9 and this was his 4th year at camp. I have been lucky in that his cousins have gone as his counselor - taking turns each year. He talks about camp all year and can't wait to go back. The first couple of times he never really asked about the other kids in wheelchairs, it wasn't until last year when his friends from the year before were using scooters but then last year they were in powerchairs. He asked if he would have to be in one and we just tell him we hope not, but if the time comes that he does we will deal with it then. He seems fine with this explanation. Camp is a wonderful experience.

Great Info...that's so wonderful to see how he reacted. Is your son going to second grade? My son is 7 but we haven't pushed the camp yet...what all does your son know and did he say anything after camp about his feelings or what will happen to him?
