Our son is four years old and has just been diagnosed with DMD. Should we be putting him on any special vitamins and/or special diet? He is currently not taking any medication yet.

i too recomend steroids, my sons are on deflazacort. my oldest son austin began taking them at age 5, my younger son max began at age 2.5. my younger son is almost 8 and still not showing the toe walking, or gowers. he runs more and falls less than his brother did at his age. i attribute much of my younger sons success to an early start on stretching, and on steroids, as well as an awareness on his fatigue levels. i am sorry to hear of your sons diagnosis, but im glad you found PPMD already!

I am sorry to hear about your son, I too can relate to what you are going through. I agree, put him on steroids, it helped my son walk until he was 10. He was diagnosed at age 3. It had it's side effects belive me, but most importantly it kept him walking longer and kept his heart stronger. Once he was in a wheelchair full time we decided to lower the dosage and then take him off all together. Wish you the best of luck with everything. If you ever have questions on anything I'm more than happy to help if I can.
God Bless!

I am very sorry to know about your son's diagnosis. We went through the same roller coaster feelings when my son now 8 yrs was diagnosed.I will recommend you to talk to your Dr and put him on steroids.I started steroid as soon my son was diagnosed.I have read researches that prove steroids help with ambulation for longer time.
