Here's a few things to share with others....you may already know some of this, all of this or none of this!!!!

We will all be seeing GREEN in our local communities......between Feb. 15 - Mar. 15 ( this is an annual event each
year that MDA does ) " Shamrocks Against Dystrophy " where individuals purchase shamrock mobiles for $1
green and $5 for a gold shamrock and the businesses display them about their location.
I purchased one from everywhere I see them, and I write on my shamrock: Cheryl Markey - In honor of my son Adam MacDonald
who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, I love you! mom.

Check out Darius Goes West! Darius and the young men he travels with have a video out and the proceeds will
help the needed research to find the CURE for our sons! I have mine already!

Sign up for iGive.com where a certain percentage of your shopping online sales goes to support your favorite
cause which of course is ParentProjectMD!!!!

Also, if you haven't heard the song "Chance of a Lifetime" written and sung by the Christian Band Catchpenny for
our boys, for the organization CureDuchenne to help them raise money also for research to find the cure for our
boys! I have my CD already!

Also, check on my Facebook page and share about what I have going on to help raise funds for (PPMD, MDA and
CureDuchenne ), I have pledged to raise $1,000.00 for each organization by June 30, 2009. I have made a $10.00
donation to each and have challenged everyone that views my page to meet or beat my $10.00 donation!!!! Pat
Furlong knows about this challenge I have going on as we are friends on Facebook!!!!

A good book, ( that will make you cry )...I purchased it already and have read it from cover to the end.....if interested you may have to order it at your local bookstore or online: "The Book of Kehls" written by: Christine Kehl O'Hagan...." A remarkable testament to the power of faith and fortitude. After reading her gripping, don't-you-dare-give-up memoir, you will never see your life quite the same again." "A true story of lifr, courageously told with keen insight, grace, and humor." Christine Kehl O'Hagan describes with humor and grace the ways in which muscular dystrophy shaped the life of her family. From her 1960's childhood growing up under the elevated trains of Jackson Heights, Queens, to leafy streets of a Long Island suburb where O'Hagan later cared for her own two boys-one healthy and one with the disease-she was always surrounded by the ghosts of past victims........I will end here as not to tell too much more.....so, you will be curious and purchase this book. Duchenne touched her life thru many male relatives!

And let's not forget Mattie, you need to purchase a book of two of his poems!

Thank you all for stopping and taking the time to read what I have written,

Cheryl Markey

Awesome......keep it going, but don't over do by exhausting yours ( re: fundraising )! We all want to do our part and we start out after learning of the diagnosis running to the finish line and we put in many hours on the phone, writing letters, on the net....and it does catch up with each of us.....I have been there once......I still do what I can and hope to do more like before.....but, being Adam's 24/7 caregiver dosen't leave much spare time for me....and in the winter we don't get out much, just too cold for Adam now.
Thanks for commenting back...............was on PPMD awhile back then went into other avenues then something had me check back the other night to see what changes were made......they are great changes......great to be back on here!!!!
Have a great day!

As far as the MDA Shamrock Program goes. We hope to make it big in the Sacramento area. I got 265 Subway Sandwich shops in our area to come on board and raise funds! We hope to make it big! My goal is to raise atleast $2500 in my store for this program. In December my store raised $650 in one month by having customers donate their loose change!

Used to be on here awhile back, just popped in now and then to check on the updated research etc., didn't go into the discussions or forums much.....it's good to be back on and I like the changes!

Cheryl,
You are awesome. I came across your page when I caught a picture of you dancing with your son and your your son with a chocolate lab. We have two chocolate labs we rescued in 2008 and love them. I help fundraise with MDA too but I notice you are doing a lot more than me. Wonderful. I will look you up on Facebook too.
