You know I love the use of steroids. But heads up they really weaken the bones. My son is 16 and up until tues night was still walking. He slipped in dog water and fractured his left hip. Went through a rather huge surgery on thur. And now is back home. We only wonder if he will be up and walking again. Just wondering if anyone has gone through this and what we can expect. Terri

My son is 18 and although he has never taken steroids he has broken his leg and did return to walking. He was 13 at the time and was non weight bearing for 6 weeks. He worked really hard to walk again, he used a walker for a while. He broke his leg in September and he was walking again by the end of the year. We did have some PT to help, but it was mostly his determination that got him there. He did start using a wheelchair at school after that, and that was mostly for his safety since he had broken his arm and then his leg both at school, the falls were nobody's fault and they could have been much worse than they were so we were grateful.
