Leg Braces

Posted on February 3, 2010 at 8:35pm 6 Comments

Hi,

My son is 5 and just got fitted for night braces. I wanted to know how other boys dealt with them and did anyone see a big change? I did not know they were going to go all the way up his thigh. I thought they were only going to go up to his knee. Not sure if I am happy or sad about the change. We will do whatever it takes to help him. I think it hurts us more than it hurts him. So glad I found PPMD. Thank you ALL for your blogs and posts.

Gregory is still not talking

Posted on April 21, 2009 at 1:51pm 9 Comments

My son is almost 4 1/2 and is not talking. He has some words, but it is hard to understand him. He has speech therapy 3 times a week and all the Dr's say he will talk. Has any other DMD mom or dad experianced this? He understands almost everything. This is my first blog. I hope someone can help. Thank all of you......SINDY

I agree waiting it hard. Talking does help. It's just crazy that before now I had heard of Muscular Dystrophy, but not DMD. There is no history in my family (waiting on DNA for my mom, but all her sisters and both her parents have passed away, and they didn't have it, that we know of.) none of her sisters kids (all boys, 1 girl) don't have it. I just won't ever understand that part I guess. But knowledge is power!
