Hi, I do not see a lot of discussion on these essential services.  How can I convince my nephew of the importance in his 20s to continue to try moving his muscles daily and receiving help from…Continue

"My son has the ProBed and he loves it.  His knees are contracted and we have not had any problems with the bed being comfortable with this."

Hi, does anyone have a lateral rotation mattress to recommend, such as MA95Z or other mattress? How about a bed then? We are familiar with the Freedom Bed, but do you use one? What problems have you had? What are the drawbacks of it for side-to-side movement with severely contracted legs? Thank you for any suggestions. Aunt SharonSee More

looking for Duchennes traveling nurse

I have an idea that if I could provide a consultation for family members regarding adult Duchennes nursing expectations and care, that might be very helpful to us all.  I would pursue this idea with family, if I could find a traveling Duchennes nurse who would go to Northern New York State (Watertown). Thank you for any leads or other information in this respect. Also, I would enjoy knowing of any groups that meet on a regular basis, in Central or Western NY, or even in CT where I live.Thank…See More

NURSING CARE

My nephew with Duchenne's is now in his 20s and bedridden at home. He lives in a town that is nowhere near a treatment center, and even if there was one nearby, it is excruciatingly uncomfortable for him to go out in the wheelchair.  He has doctors but lacks a medical professional who completely understands the illness and is able to coordinate his care in a proactive fashion. For the family, I am looking for a traveling nurse who can consult on his case and train the local homecare aides how…See More
