Your son is a little bit young for most of the current trials--they usually start recruiting at age 5 or 6. But there are several trials that will be starting soon for which he could be a good candidate. Both Reveragen and Catabasis are planning to test their drugs designed to act like steroids but with less side effects in 2015. Also, Pfizer and Bristol Myers Squibb both have drugs that help build muscle mass that should go into testing for Duchenne by the end of this year or the beginning of next year. All four of these potential trials will not be "mutation-specific." So, they are not recruiting yet, but could be good prospects soon. The only other study that I might recommend that is already underway now is the halofuginone study (by Akashi Therapeutics), but boys must be 6 years old to participate. So, I think the timing might be good--by the time these first four studies I mentioned are underway your son will likely be old enough to meet entry criteria. I know that Catabasis study, in particular, will be recruiting younger boys. I hope this helps! Sharon
My son was detected with DMD about a month back. I am trying Ayurvedic and Homeopathic medicines. Really struggling to find a treatment. Have you heard anything more on the treatment side.
