About me:
I am the Mother of Harrison, age 12 with Duchenne's. I am an Emergency Trauma Nurse by trade and currently teach nursing students. I also teach ACLS, PALS and CPR. We live on a sheep farm in Blue Ridge, TX.
About my family:
Harrison is 12. Paige is 22 and Ashton is 23. Ashton graduated from the United States Naval Academy and now flies for the Navy. My oldest, Berry, a stepson also flies for the Navy. My daughter Paige is the coolest daughter on the planet and lives in Amarillo.

A Rollar Coaster

The trip to Six Flags was a rollar coaster of highs and lows indeed.   He was elated to go.  We made a pact to try the rides he felt comfortable with doing.  Ones that would not load his spine to worsen compression fractures from the osteopenia and osteoporosis.   We thought we had a plan.   Lot's of big "football" type boys and ride workers helped me load him into some rides.

What is my motivation to write?

Image One of the things that some writer's struggle with is writer's block.   I guess, maybe I am one of the lucky ones, but for me that just doesn't seem to be an issue.   I believe that some writer's block is caused by pressure.    When you feel under pressure or a dealine to produce something, anxiety is produced.   Anxiety can make the brain hyperactive, and synapse connections are definitely affected.  In fact, sometimes anxiety is so powerful, it blocks some connections…

Hello everyone!   I wish I could say that I had written a wonderful book like Mary Lou Weisman's Intensive Care.   However I did right a good one!    Flying Solo is the first in a series of books which will wind up telling the story of my own journey coping and battling Duchenne's.
