It would appear that we are ordering the same one for Derek. The paperwork is still being worked on. It has not gone to our insurance company yet. So I guess when I said it was on order I kind of jumped the gun. Really don't know how long it will be.

I still have Derek's camp application on the table. It is mostly filled out. My older son still needs to fill out his couselor one. I really think they are much longer than they need to be.

Holly,

It is in the process of being ordered. I think it may be the same one that you have. Did you get that lengthy MDA camp paperwork all filled out yet.

Thanks so much Holly! I have to take Nicholas to some independent DME providers outside of the state system so he can try them out and see the differences. The state program they put us with is only willing to offer the most basic chair they can, but I want to make sure that I end up with something that is modifiable in the future. I will definitely look at the kind Jason has. Thanks again for the info and I'll let you know what happens. We go on Thursday for our first appointment with the state agency. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they are more cooperative than I'm giving them credit for!!! Take care,

Thank you so much Holly. No rush at all! California is a very slow state...I hope Nicholas gets his wheelchair before he turns 13!

Hi Holly:

My son is also 12 and I have been working on getting him a power chair for over a year too. My insurance won't cover any of it. So far we don't qualify for any of the state programs that I have been referred to (I live in CA), so who (and how) we are going to pay is one of the things that has been taking so long. Do you mind if I ask what kind of chair you got? I was looking at the Permobiles. It may end up that we have to accept the basic chair (that the state may cover one day) and later add the other things on at our own expense. I appreciate any info you can give me on Jason's chair, especially if you like it and what features it has. Thanks so much and have a great weekend!

Holly,

What chair did you end up getting?

Wow, that is a long time to wait. The OT is coming next Tues. We were kind of hoping to have it for his Wash DC trip in May but that is looking unlikely. He is on Medicaid so hopefully that will help a lot. It will be interesting to see what my insurance will cover though.

Great pic from camp. We are in the process of waiting for the OT to call us to get fitted for a chair. Geez, this is so hard emotionally.

Hello Holly,

Do you have power down there in Worthington yet? I saw on the news today that some of the Worthington schools were still out today. We were back on early Tues. morning.
