Disability Rights, Compliance Complaints and Information

The Protection and Advocacy (P&A) System comprise is a congressionally mandated, legally based disability rights agencies. A P&A agency exists in every U.S. state and territory. P&A agencies have the authority to provide legal representation and other advocacy services, under all federal and state laws, to all people with disabilities (based on a system of priorities for services).  These agencies devote considerable resources to ensuring full access to inclusive educational programs, financial entitlements, healthcare, accessible housing and productive employment opportunities.

Disability Rights Groups

  • National Disability Rights Network 
    The National Disability Rights Network (NDRN) works to improve the lives of people with disabilities by guarding against abuse; advocating for basic rights; and ensuring accountability in health care, education, employment, housing, transportation, and within the juvenile and criminal justice systems.

  • ADA National Network

    The ADA National Network is funded through the Department of Health and Human Services, National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research. This website includes FAQ’s about the ADA, news, and resources.

  • Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates
    The Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates, Inc. (COPAA) is an independent, nonprofit, organization of attorneys, advocates, parents and related professionals. COPAA members work to protect the legal and civil rights of and secure excellence in education on behalf of tens of thousands of students with disabilities and their families each year at the national, state and local levels.

  • Disability Rights Defense Fund
    The Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund (DREDF), founded in 1979, is a leading national civil rights law and policy center directed by individuals with disabilities and parents who have children with disabilities.

  • Jenny Hatch Justice Project
    The Jenny Hatch Justice Project will inspire and support strength and justice through advocacy, information, research and education, by giving people with disabilities, families, advocates, attorneys, professionals the tools they need to protect and promote the rights of people with disabilities to make their own choices and determine their paths and directions in life.
