On Mother's day 2009, our family did an MDA fund raiser in front of Gander Mountain in Tonawanda. It was bitterly cold, so the sale of cookies and cold lemonaide didn't do as well as we had hoped. Interestingly, we had a visit from Jeff Harvey, who introduced himself and told us about his grandson, who at that time had very recently been diagnosed with Duchenne. He shared with us, the research he had done up to that time, which included information about the findings in the initial research on tarantula venom done at UB.
I hope it moves along quickly, and would like to see lots of us rally together to try to raise funds for the further studies to begin.
He had also told us of a company (I believe located in the New England area) that was doing some very interesting research whereby they can very rapidly test many compouns very quickly to determine their potential for increasing muscle strength.
Looking forward to hearing more about that one as well.
BTW...Has anyone heard anything regarding studies using IGF-1 (insulin like growth factor 1) to potentially help with muscle strength?
