No, your son would need to skip exon 50 or 52.

Think of exons as a series of pieces in a puzzle. If one piece is missing, the rest don't fit in properly. So exon skipping in essence causes one or more additional exons to be deleted until the pieces line up again. I had a good link that visualized this well, but unfortunately I didn't bookmark it and can't find it again. Howerver, here is a chart showing the deletions and the resulting exons that would need to be skipped:
