My son is currently on prednisone but we are considering switching to deflazacort.  I know about the masters site but I wondered if there were any other sites that people trusted and were good as well?

Also, just want to hear what people's opinions are about both steroids and why they think one or the other is better?

We've been on both.  We saw a pretty rapid increase in weight on prednisone, which tapered off significantly when we switched to deflazacort.  We did make changes in diet at the same time, though.

Prednisone is potentially covered by your insurance, because it's FDA approved, and deflazacort is probably not covered.  It costs a couple hundred dollars a year for us to purchase out of pocket, but would depend on your dosage.

We get it from Masters.  I know some others on this board or Facebook told me they were using a place out of Canada, but I don't have the name.  The cost was about the same when I looked into it.

We have had good experience ordering deflazacort from, which works in cooperation with River East Supplies LTD in the UK.

We switched to deflazacort about 6 years ago after my son was on prednisone for 2 years.  It helped with weight and has lesser side effects.  We get it from Masters in the UK and have never had a problem with delivery.  You can get the prescription from Dr. Wong or Rybalysky at Cincinnati Children's Hospital.  It is not covered by ins. and a three month supply is about $195 at this point.
