Nothing is more accessible than Disney. It can get a little cold in the evenings in the winter, but is generally pretty nice.
We are headed on a Disney cruise in less than 2 weeks. We have 2 handicapped cabins next to each other. We have 2 boys in chairs (19 and 16). The standard room door is only 22 inches wide, but there are 16 accessible cabins on the 2 older ships and many more on the new Dream with wider doorways. Bathrooms are rollin showers. Three sets of elevators, fore, midship and aft. There are several great websites that will give you room sizes, accessibility features and others personal comments on getting around with a chair. We are not getting off in Nassau, but their island Castaway Key is accessible and they have beach wheelchairs available to borrow. We feel very comfortable with our choice to cruise. I believe it will be a great experience. Remember, it is Disney, and no-one handles people with disabilities better!

The cruise was incredible!
We had so much fun and Disney did such a great job of taking care of us!
The boys had no trouble getting everywhere on the ship. The staterooms were huge and they were able to go out on the outside veranda (7636 & 7638 on the Wonder)
The dinner servers brought out the food and cut it up for the boys (a delicate task considering they are 16 & 19 and do not want the help, but need it)
The shows were outstanding and we had great seats. Whenever there was a line for the elevators, there always seemed to be help making sure the boys and their chairs had first priority! Unbelieveable!
We did not get off of the ship in Nassau, but their private island was super accessible. They had MANY beach wheelchairs to borrow, but the sand up near the walkways was hard packed and the guys drove their chairs right over to our lounge chairs. We had the best time. Always something to do and many foods to try. For younger ones, there were a lot of characters to interact with. Much easier than the parks! I would highly recommend for anyone who can still handle the traveling.
YEAH DISNEY!
Thank you so much for letting us know how it went. I'm glad you had such a great experience. I've heard good things about Disney in the parks, its nice to know we can expect the same on the ships. Hopefully things work out so we can take our boys in a couple of years, before they're full time in wheelchairs.

We did a Disney cruise in Oct.. It was fabulous!!!! Lucas isn't in a chair yet,but we took his scooter.....He loved it...zipped all over the boat...We we're told where the handicapped bathrooms and doors were located. Anytime a disney employee saw Lucas they took care of him{ we cruised on the Disney Wonder,it has the capacity for 2500 passengers with 1000 employees..that gives you a great employee to passenger rate!!} Also, since Disney is such a family venue the other passengers were very helpful and nice to my son....He loved the cruise..felt very independent and pampered...the rest of the family felt that way too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to go again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
