Our son Michael lost the battle he has been fighting for the 23 years since he was diagnosed with DMD. he died peacefully in his bed while watching TV and playing on his computer, he was having a good day and never mentioned any discomfort. He was always the optimist, he was telling the nurse earlier in the day what he was going to do when he could get out of his chair, he loved old cars and Speed channel was his favorite. I am grateful that we never let his disease slow us down from doing things or going places. He loved car shows. He lost his battle but we are still fighting for my younger son Matthew who is 23. We were blessed to have him as long as we did, he touched many people and made friends where ever we went. We have had many battles along the way, many that did not seem to help, but in the end I think they helped him to stay with us longer. God Bless all that are still fighting, we will win!

I'm so sorry for your loss -- Michael sounds like an awesome person. Thank you for sharing this with us, and reminding us to not let this disease keep our sons from going out and enjoying life to the fullest. God bless you and your family.
I'm so sorry for your loss. May God bless you.
I'm so sorry for your loss, our Benjamin always talks about when he walks again,so maybe positive thinking comes with this condition. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Tom, we always tried to reinforce him, having a positive attitude can help alot in there battle. Paxil helps them keep a good attitude we found.

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Hugs!!!
I'm so very sorry for your loss...Michael sounds a lot like my Josh...a go getter...a inspiration and so much more. You have no clue how badly I needed to hear those words right now..."We will win" it means so much to have a positive attitude which I am finding it hard to have today. I got the news today that two other young mean past this week from DMD...they were in their late teens.... WE NEED TO WIN and Fast these young men have soo much to give.
Sorry for your loss. Prayers and thoughts are with you! Glad he went doing what he enjoyed and peace be with your family.
We are so sorry for your loss and our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

They say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.....you speak of your son's optimism yet, I am truely encouraged by you...You are suffering a loss no parent should have to...and yet continue to be a source of faith and optimism...I pray that God comforts and strengthens you and your family and that one day very soon, we will be free of this diease...Thank you for lifting me up
I am so sorry for your loss although those words probably still just seem empty right now. Thank you for sharing you experience. I can not imagine what you must be going through. We will keep you in our prayers.
My most sincere condolences for your loss. Michael sounded like a most courageous fighter, may God protect him while he sleeps.
Yes, we will win. So sorry for your loss. You are in so many prayers right now.
