Our son Michael lost the battle he has been fighting for the 23 years since he was diagnosed with DMD. he died peacefully in his bed while watching TV and playing on his computer, he was having a good day and never mentioned any discomfort. He was always the optimist, he was telling the nurse earlier in the day what he was going to do when he could get out of his chair, he loved old cars and Speed channel was his favorite. I am grateful that we never let his disease slow us down from doing things or going places. He loved car shows. He lost his battle but we are still fighting for my younger son Matthew who is 23. We were blessed to have him as long as we did, he touched many people and made friends where ever we went. We have had many battles along the way, many that did not seem to help, but in the end I think they helped him to stay with us longer. God Bless all that are still fighting, we will win!

My son Ismael 23 went with the Lord on April 23rd 2010 after battling for 17 yrs DMD, he died peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his parents, brother, sister ,nephew Gabriel also affected with DMD and a big extended family. We feel the same way because my son always loved the Lord above everything else and in his humble quiet way was an example to others and a living testimony that with the Lord's help you can soar and managed to be happy regardless the situation. He also loved car shows, movies, football, he also played power soccer for the Tampa Thunder, and liked Playstation 3 and be in the computer all night. We also have a long road ahead of us with our grandson, it's tough but "God have a purpose in all this" like my son Ismael would say. I am grieving for me and my family because we miss him dearly but now it's time for us to be happy for him knowing that he is in a better place were he is no longer suffering.
God bless you

Vilma, I'm so sorry to hear about Ismael. We are so blessed to have our boys who remind us to appreciate each moment, but there is never enough time with a loved one. My thoughts are with your family.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I too lost my Timmy January of this year. He loved Playstation 3 and the computer and any type of sport especially ice hockey. I wish our boys could have met that had so much in common. I know that they are in a place where they are looking down upon us wishing us not to cry. Their purpose here was to make us be the people we are meant to be. God be with you and your family.
