Can someone tell me side effects, benefits, and if you have seen a decline in the progression on dmd/bmd?  Does it really help?

Well I wasn't sure we were seeing a difference but we are.  The main difference is less muscle cramps complaints. He's on a half a pill nightly.  I don't believe it really does anything for the DMD decline.  The main thing this supplement helps with is the oxidation of muscle recovery.

We do not see anything. My son started Protandim quite young though, age 1.5. We stopped and restarted a couple of times to check for any changes. None observed. He is now age 4, weighs 16.5 kg and takes ½ pill nightly. We just use it as an antioxidant w/o expecting any disease modification.

I've found it helpful for cramps for myself. I've been taking it daily for about 30 days to see what happens before I give to my son. I too get cramps often, usually the day after a long workout. My cramps are almost completely gone.

But I do find the overblown claims on the internet to be rather absurd.

Thanks. I have my son on amino acids andB vitamins. My put him on protandim. Will ask doctor

Dear Ofelia,

You mention your son takes nightly. Any special recommendation for nightly taking cause it is just mentioned daily with meal. Pls. advise. Tks.

We just give it with dinner. He takes several vitamins and supplements so we split them (morning and evening). No special reason for it.

Protandim gives my son a better quality of life.  His calf muscles stay soft and supple instead of waking up with cramped, hardened ones.  He has stopped falling so often (he's 7 years old , typical increase in falling for this age I think) , which has made life a lot better for him.  He was on it originally back in 2006 when he was two, and we gave it to him for 18 months when we stopped because of the huge drama of getting the crushed 1/2 tablet into him each day.  I regret that we stopped back then.  We restarted him on it last October (he swallows it now, thankfully!) when the falling was becoming more frequent than being on his feet, and within 2 weeks he was falling a WHOLE lot less. His school aide couldn't believe the change that she saw after we started him back on Protandim, as she had become very concerned with his increased falling (she has been with him since Kindergarten).  The anti-inflammatory properties of Protandim and the increased Glutathione (300%), that the body makes as the result of taking Protandim, and the fact that it decreases oxidative stress by 40-70% (which with DMD our boys have an over-abundance of oxidative stress), is what I feel has helped my son.  It is not a cure, it will not save my son from this ugly disease, but it has given him as I stated before, a better quality of life.  I'll take that any day over the alternative. But of course this is my opinion, and I don't expect anyone to believe it until they have their own experience with Protandim.  Have a great day all =)
