Hi everyone. My son is 21 and he uses a powerchair with a Roho cushion. He has been having pain in the upper thigh, buttock area,(no skin breakdown). Any ideas for seating/positioning? Anyone using an adult orthopedic who knows DMD? Thank you for your thoughts. Kathy

How old is the Rojo? Is it a Quatro? My son is suddenly having the same problem at age 29 and his cushion is about 6 years old. I wonder if they break down after time? Also, has your son gained or lost weight recently? I hope others have suggestions for us!
Hi Ann. The Roho is new. Chris has had fractures on the left side in the past. I wonder if it's arthritis or osteoporosis. He has had bone density scans in the past and I know he has Osteopenia. I am trying to get an appt with an orthopedic at the MDA clinic. He has not seen an orthopedic for many yrs. The Quatro..Does that have 4 sections you can adjust with air?

I recommend that you see a clinician to determine if the QUARTO SELECT is the best cushion for your sons. During the seating evaluation ask the clinician for a prescription for the cushion they recommend that is both brand and product specific. A seating evaluation on a pressure mapping system can also help with properly adjusting the cushion to the air levels that will meet your sons' needs.

While it varies, Medicare generally allows an individual to purchase a new cushion every three years. I recommend doing so whether a replacement cushion is needed or not. This ensures that you have a back up cushion and do not fall in the between the cracks of coverage. I recommend speaking with your Medicare representative or insurance provider for more information.
