My son is almost 9 years old and will soon get a power chair. So far he has been using the Mc Claren special needs stroller for long distances, travel, etc. and a manual wheelchair for school.

I would like your input in regards to travel chair options. The stroller is getting to difficult for him to get on and off it. At the same time, he does not like the fact of sitting in a "baby stroller." Your advice on any other  practical chair options for travelling on the plane and moving around in a foreign country are very much appreciated. Thank you all! I am so glad we have this forum!  Have a good day! Isabel

Hi Isabel,
We went to France last Sept and took our son's scooter. However, Air France refused to allow us to board, which created tremendous chaos, long story short...we forgot to repack (when they finally let us fly) the electrical cord to re-juice the battery. We ended up renting a childs wheelchair during our sightseeing. Got it from a little Pharmacy for aprox $8.00 a day, US dollars converted from euros. It was so much easier to use because French streets & sidewalks aren't handicapped accessible like ours are. Since that trip, we've purchased a manual childs wheelchair for future travels & use at home. Our son is 11.5. Hope this helps. Cheryl
