Hi. My 16 year old son has DMD. He weighs about 200 lbs, and we are looking into getting a hoyer lift. Does anyone have any experience with a company called SureHands? We are interested in the mobile hoyer lift. Thank you very much!!

We have used a Sure Hands mobile lift for about 4 years. We have rails in his bedroom and bathroom from the shower to the commode. We thought that the mobile unit would be easy but the unit is pretty heavy to move back and forth. You have to lift it pretty high to hook it. However we use it everyday in his bedroom going from where he parks to his bed and we love it there. Since my son has been in a wheelchair since 8 yrs old we used an electric Hoyer lift and he still prefers that for bathrooming. Either way they both have been a huge help! Hope this helps. Best wishes to you and your family!
We have an Easy acess multi base lift from SureHands. The base stays on the wall and then you are supposed to move the "arm" from place to place where the other bases are. We fonally got our insurance to approve more "arms" we now have one in our bathroom and one in Justins room

Just a quick question...did you guys consider an overhead lift system? the ones that mount on the ceiling? our insurance paid for ours and is sooo much better than a hoyer lift, especially if you're stuck with carpet in your house (like we are)
No, we do not have carpeting. Since his bedroom is really small, we thought that the overhead wouldn't give us too much use for it, and with a hoyer lift we can use it in other places around the house.

What brand of ceiling lift do you have? I am waiting for a company to give us a demonstration on the Sure Hands.
Thanks

We don't have a lift yet. We are looking into the Surehands lift, and I just wasn't sure if I should go with the one that moves around the house, or the one that mounts on the celing.
