Hi Cindy,
Did you get the electric scooter? We are thinking of the same thing - for the same reasons. He can't keep up with his friends and they love to bike around the block. It is a big block, but thank heavens it is pretty flat. My problem is that we are in Canada and I can't seem to find anything other than the Razor 100 (which doesn't have the seat). So far, I've only looked online. Before I have one shipped, I was just wondering if your son used it and enjoyed it.

Hi Angela,
We're in Canada too, and I see there are Razor 300's and 400's with the seat, but they seem really pricey. On-line says Walmart can special order one, and I think also carried by Sears. Was wondering if you did get one, or what happened with your situation. Would like to try one out before actually purchasing, ya know?
We have a mobility scooter which is great, but he kinda feels like a grandpa in it. This would be so much cooler for a kid. Summer is coming...

Hi Angela,
Yes,we did get the electric Razor (100 series/no seat) and it took him just a few tries to master it (he turned the throttle up too much first time on it and flew off it). He still loves it and he's 8.5 now. I really think it motivated him to work on his balance--just a few weeks ago, he rode a 2 wheel bike w/o training wheels for the fist time! He dosn't go far on the bike and has a huge fear of falling and getting hurt--but he did it! I would definatley recommend the electric scooter as long as he wears helmet and elbow/knee pads--especially whle learning!

Hi Andrea,
I'm glad you posted a photo of your son on the mobility scooter. Jacob was refusing to consider one but when I showed him a picture of your son, he said he'd reconsider (if it has 3 wheels and goes 20 miles/hour - lol). He is trying skateboarding now that we have a new skate park in town - it is absolutely stressing me out. Still not using the Razor 100 though...
Hello Angela,
The scooter goes pretty fast when set to "jack rabbit", you would have to jog to keep up. We have to force him to put it down to "tortoise" in a crowd so there's less chance of him running into someone. It also has this annoying little horn that he loves to beep! Now that he has his own (not a borrowed one from MDC) we were starting to think about getting flames painted on it, or something to liven it up and "youngify" it.
Take care.
Andrea
Thanks Andrea. I'll let Jacob know it has some speed. He's not a speed demon in any event. I've already told him it needs 4 wheels though. We're still looking at an electric bike so it'll be a bit before we get a scooter. I didn't know MDC loaned them. I'll have to call our district. It would be great to try one out for a bit.
Best regards,
Angela
