My school district just built a brand new junior high this year.  My son is in 8th grade and still walking however they installed the entrance doors recently and did not put the accessible push buttons on the doors for the disabled students to get in the school.  Shouldn't they have to have these on the doors?  I am asking because when my oldest went to the high school they retrofitted all the doors even the classrooms with the electric openers and he is in the same school district. My 8th grader has been contemplating taking his scooter to school and I just realized that when I drop him off, if he is in it, he won't be able to open the doors to get in..What is even more puzzling to me is why the other parents of disabled students haven't brought it up?

I picked my son up from school yesterday and the automatic door opening company was there working on them..I wrote an email to the superintendent and enclosed a copy of the ADA from 1990..apparently that worked.

Glad they stepped up. Too bad the reminder was needed at all though. A.
