Hi,
I'm not sure if anyone has heard of this, it's come up several times in the last few days in my DMD google alert. There is a family in the UK whose son, Edward has DMD. A man named Shane Hamil heard about their fund-raising efforts and wrote a song for Edward called "Never say goodbye". It is a gorgeous song (careful though, it's a tear jerker!) and 100% of the proceeds raised by the song goes to DMD research (not Parent Project but hey, it takes a village, right?) They are desperately trying to get people to download the song, with the hope that it will arrive in the top ten as they have been promised a good deal of publicity if it does (they've already had a good deal of publicity!) If you are interested in helping, go to www.sayhellotoedward.com and you can either just watch the video of the song or download it. It cost 99 pence, about $1.48 by my calculations (but don't hold me to that!). It's a really great song, go check it out!

Very easy to do and it cost $1.49. Lukey's Grandma
Merry Christmas Eve!
Have you ever hosted a fund raising event where you really worked your butt off, tried to publicize it like crazy, do all the things that are on the fund-raising checklist for a successful fund-raiser and it really didn't raise anywhere as much money as you wanted--or expected it to? And it is so very frustrating because the main purpose of your life has now become solely to find a cure for DMD? That's how Edward's family feels--they worked so so so hard on finding someone to put beautiful words and music to how we all feel about our boys, publicized it like crazy and as of yesterday, they have only raised 1500 in sales (I'm not sure if that's pounds or number of songs sold!). If only everyone on this list went and bought the song for $1.49, they would have more than 1500.
Please go to www.sayhellotoedward.com and listen to the song and buy it if you want. As I said, it's a gorgeous song and once you download it, when you go to sync your ipod, it automatically downloads. Please just check it out and if you like it, forward it to your friends and family. It does take a village and I've learned so much since my son's diagnosis and one of the things I've learned is that it's critical that we support each other.
Happy holidays to everyone and I wish us all hope and promise for the new year!
