Drop for Duchenne Golf Ball Drop set for Saturday, October 23rd, 2010

Okay so we have set our date for the Drop for Duchenne Golf Ball Drop to be on Saturday, October 23rd. I was thinking that it would be really great if others could organize them and we could all do them on the same day. Thousands of golf balls being dropped at one time to Cure Duchenne! Any Thoughts?

Donna - just FYI, I tried to get access for this to a very large hot air balloon festival that takes place near me - they won't sell me a booth, but instead offered $7/hour donation to a non-profit of my choice to direct cars in the parking lot. Gee, thanks.

Huh? Keith I'm speechless!
I would contact your local fire company and ask them if they would be willing to do the drop from their ladder truck. That is probably the way we are going this year because with the balloon it depended on weather and wind and because it was iffy last year the balloon would start to go up and then have to come down and it went like that for over an hour so the Drop was later than we planned. The whole time we had a ladder truck sitting there for backup so we are just going with the ladder truck so that we can have the Drop take place on time. We will still have a few balloons in the air for tethered rides and since we are having it at a private airport they are going to bring in some old planes for display. You could either have it at a firehouse if there's enough room or at a school if the fire company will bring the truck or you could get a crane company to use a crane. Or ask your local small airport. It wasn't easy talking them into it for the first time but now everyone wants to participate.
