Cycle the Americas

Hi! I have some crazy friends from the UK who are cycling 20,000 miles for DMD! They are setting off from Halifax, Nova Scotia in May and then cycling round the lakes via Chicago, across to Vancouver and then down the West Coast - all the way down to the tip of Argentina!
20,000 miles, 20 months for boys who may not make it to 20.

PLEASE JOIN the group Cycle the Americas. If you, or know of anyone, that lives en route please get in touch. Joff and Joy (the crazy couple) really want to meet local families and help raise awareness of DMD.

They are completely self funded, so any money they raise goes towards finding a cure for Duchenne.

Hi Rebecca,
I have been following Joy and Joff's journey for DMD since your first posting and I recently emailed them. I was absolutely delighted to get an email back from them! I have since encouraged others to write to them with words of thanks and support and hopefully offer them a warm shower, good nights sleep, hot meal or even a cold beer if they are along their route. Today, after reading their website (again!) and checking in here to see if anyone has any news from them, I realized you are mom to their inspiration--George! What amazing friends they are! They have become an inspiration to me as I am training for my first ever triathlon, along with 20 other friends (and friends of friends) to raise awareness and money for DMD as well. After my email to Joy and Joff, they even put a link on their website to my triathlon team website: the Gals for Cal (for my son, Calvin, age 7,DMD). Joy and Joff's energy and committment remind me so much of the Gals on my tri team. But our physical efforts pale in comparison to what Joy and Joff are doing! But they have restored my faith that I CAN get thru the triathlon--at least in one day! Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I so appreciate all they are doing for all of us! As I told them, this world is richer place because of people like them, and my son will be a stronger boy too! Thank you so much for posting their story/event here. I encourage everyone here to check out their website and send them an email of support!
