Anyone's son have diabetes not just insulin resistence?

I was wondering if anyone's son has full blown diabetes.  we started out being told we have insulin resistance but now the doc says may have full blown diabetes.  If you do, how are you being treated, do you take insulin?  Thanks

My son has type diabetes diagnosed at age 2.5 and now he is 5 and facing muscular dystrophy.  We will b seeing the neuro doctor in 2 weeks.  Worried how steroids might affect this!
