Hi,

I just received an email from my Representative, Linda Sanchez (Calif 39th dist) saying that she has requested that her name be added to the list of co-sponsors.

Susan
Christine P. said:
Just listing the Remaining New York Delegation not on the MD Care Act:

Fellow New Yorkers, if possible I would like to see if we can sign on the the entire delegation to the MD Care act. We are doing well, given that NY has 29 congressional districts. I have listed the remaining congressional districts and if they supported the 2001 MD care Act.

Steve Isreal 2nd 2001 Supporter
Gary Ackerman 5th 2001 Supporter
Gregory Meeks 6th
Joseph Crowley 7th
Anthony Weiner 9th 2001 Supporter
Yvette Clark 11th
Nydia Velquez 12th 2001 Supporter
Vito Fosella 13th 2001 Supporter
Charles B Rangel 15th 2001 Supporter
Jose Serrano 16th 2001 Supporter
Kristen Gillenbrand 20th
Michael McNulty 21st 2001 Supporter
Thomas Reynolds 26th 2001 Supporter

I know that Jen Portnoy and her sister are following up with Steve Isreal. I am following up with Kristen Gillenbrand, I met with her aide at the conference. I will also follow up with Thomas Reynolds, as I know families in his district But I am not sure who are in the other districts. I'm assuming that the representatives that were not supporters in 2001 were not elected into office in 2001.

If you know of any families in the districts listed above, please let me know and I will provide the contact information.

Thanks.
All:

You can check out your state's record to see who supported the original MD Care act and what they have supported regarding MD the past couple of years. Look on the links below to see if they have supported in the past and then check their current status.

Let's keep the e-mails and phone calls coming into the office until we get the support we need! This is a tough time in congress to get things passed. We can do this. Who else will help our children if we don't?

Good luck!

All:

Just a friendly reminder PPMD is hitting DC again Tuesday, 9/16 and I believe 9/17. Let us show our support and those who can make calls to your local offices, DC and request support for H.R.5265 and S.2618

Look to see if your member is on the list and if they are not but promised to sign, make a phone call to remind the office.

Good luck everyone! Let congress hear from us all, loud and clear so we can get the support our children need and deserve! Lets get this bill re-authorized!!!!
Hi Julie,

Wow-those Report Card links are great. I wish we had them at the Advocacy conf in Feb. I think it is important when talking with the aides that they know how the rep/senator signed on in previous years.
Thanks.

Beverly
The bill will be brought up in the committee markup hearing this morning, Wednesday Sept 17. You can watch it on a live webcast, the link is on the Energy & Commerce website, here

One more hurdle has been accomplished! Energy and Commerce marked up the bill favorably and we are in the mix for potential floor consideration next week!!!! This is outstanding news and we couldn't have done it without our advocates! We traveled to the hill with Ryan Lochte yesterday and couldn't have planned better timing with the movement of our bill. We met with leaders of both houses who were positive about the bill. Meetings went extremely well. Here are some articles from the day...

More details will come next week. We may be sending an action alert to the entire community at the end of the week/early next week to call your reps, requesting they vote yes on our bill. For now, wait for our word. Thank you for all your hard work. More details to come soon....
All, especially Susan and Beth,

Please call your members and request support. Beth and Susan I know your Representatives agreed to support H.R.5265. Susan, I recieved the same msg from the DC office Rep Sanchez was going to sign on and to date I do not believe I see her signature added. Beth your Representative does not show signed on either. I did talk to his DC office Beth, Cecila Daly said we could follow up with her in DC to see the status. I told her you met with him direct and he thanked you for bringing it to his attention and would be signing on. She told me a lot of times some things need reminders. She just needs to make contact with him to remind him and confirm with him. Your calls will help remind the Representatives so we can gain support.

This is what happens, the Representative has a lot going on so we need to follow up, check in until we see the signature.

All the best to everyone!

Take care,

Julie
The markup meeting broadcast is archived on the Energy & Commerce website now. The discussion on our bill occurs at 37:18 minutes into it. There's some discussion early in the meeting by the ranking member regarding disease specific legislation that some may find interesting.
Keith,

Thanks for the link. It is interesting to hear.

Julie
I got a phone message today that Mike Rogers, MI-8, is going to cosponsor. .
